Almendros Inc. was originally founded in 1981 by Robert Potter. At the time, Sam Hanes was the manager of both Almendros and Poso Creek Farms. In 1987, Almendros was purchased by Sam Hanes, Eric Merz and Robert Merz. They added some of the first down the row chipping machines in the area.

In 1995 the company merged operations with Merz and Merz, which then added almond harvesting and pest control to their offered services.

Almendros continued to grow over the years and was able to add tower pruning, hand pruning and shredding to the services list. In 2014. Luis Medina came to the company as an intern. He decided to stay and in 2019 he became a partner. Luis oversees all the current field operations.
